This episode, Jae gives us the lowdown on the Hungry Bear Restaurant. We take a visit the Main Street Newsstand, and give the latest crowd update in a new segment. We also have our Tip of the Week. All-Nighter Kicks Off “Monstrous Summer” at Disneyland Resort. Disneyland Gets Hit With DOSH Code Violations & Fines - A few weeks ago Disney suddenly closed down Space Mountain, Matterhorn, and Soarin’ over California due to not passing DOSH inspections for worker safety. The proposed penalties are nearly $235,000. Matterhorn and Soarin’ has since reopened but as of today, Space Mountain remains closed and not set to reopen until 4/24 (thursday so may be open by the time we record)1 I’m now reading that the DOSH now won’t allow train engineers to get water from the water tower of New Orleans Square station to power up the train? Getting Ready for Mickey and the Magical Map Market House, and Disnyana is now officially closed and reopen as starbucks. A Fresh Take on Blue Bayou Menu Debuts Today at Disneyland Park Delicious Ideas for Mother’s Day at the Disneyland Resort MouseInfo.com reports that a cancellation fee for dining and "transformation" experiences are coming - Beginning May 9 you could be charged a $10 cancellation fee (PER PERSON) if you don't cancel a Disneyland Resort restaurant/transformation reservation at least one day before the reservation. The policy begins for reservations on or after June 24. Droid Factory opens in Tomorrowland- You can now build your own custom Droid at the Droid Factory in Star Traders in Tomorrowland. Mix and match parts and colors, even add Mickey Mouse ears! The cost is $12.95 for one and $19.95 for two purchased at the same time. Check out this link here: Feature - Jae’s Hungry Bear Review (http://diningatdisney.com/review-hungry-bear-restuarant/) Tip of the Week Looking for a sweet snack at DCA? Try the gourmet marshmallows at Trolley Treats. Flavors vary daily depending on the kitchen. Not sure if there is a way to check with Disney to see what will be offered during a particular day. I know Candy Kitchen has their own Hotline at (714) 781-0112 Anyhow, I have two tips about this place. First, Trolley Treats recently started selling smaller portions of their marshmallows. Normally they sell the flavors in a package of two large portions at $5.95. But you can get the smaller ones at the counter. I believe you have a choice of three for $4.95. Here is a list of flavors. Campfire S’mores - Vanilla marshmallow on top of a crunchy graham cracker with a layer of chocolate between. Banana Split - Banana Marshmallow with caramel, chocolate drizzle and cherry on top. Luscious Lemon - Lemony flavored marshmallow with graham cracker crumbs and a lemon marmalade drizzle. Peanut Butter Chocolate Madness - This is a peanut butter/chocolate flavored marshmallow with chocolate chips, chopped peanuts and peanut butter cookie crumbles. Raspberry Chip - Raspberry infused marshmallow with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Watermelon - Dual layered marshmallow in light green and pink. Flavored with watermelon and contains chocolate chips to look like seeds. This is my wife's favorite. Nutmallow - Generous coating of chocolate on top of a vanilla marshmallow with walnuts. During the Holidays they have peppermint and egg nog flavors. Last year they did not sell the peppermint. During our Holiday Tour, cast members told us that they were only giving them to guest on the tour. Not sure if it will change, but it was the best peppermint marshmallow I've ever tasted. Egg nog was good too, but could be better. HERE'S THE SECOND TIP: Try to get the marshmallows from the back kitchen. Look at what they're making and ask the cast members if you can purchase a fresh marshmallow. They may be reluctant, but just ask nicely. This makes a HUGE difference in the flavor, especially with the S'mores. It's hard to tell how long some of the packages on the floor have been sitting there. With the S'mores, the graham cracker gets soft. When fresh, it's really crunchy. I'm assuming that's probably the case with the other marshmallows that have some type of pastry with it. OZ: The Great and Powerful 4D preview has been removed and Muppet Vision 3D has reopened at Disney California Adventure. Limited Time Magic - Long Lost Friends Week April 8th - 14th Disney Legend, Harrison “Buzz” Price to Receive Main St. Window - In July 1953, Walt hosted a party and discussed the Disneyland project with architects Charles Luckman, Welton Becket, and William Pereira. When the subject of where the park should go came up, Luckman suggested that Walt talk with Harrison “Buzz” Price. Price worked for the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) and had recently finished two site suitability studies for major corporations. This was the type of expertise that Walt needed. The next morning, Walt had Nate Winecoff call Price and put SRI under contract. Over his long career, Buzz Price worked on an estimated three thousand economic feasibility studies. Most of those were in the leisure-recreation-attraction field. Price would go on to advise Walt and Roy on more than 150 projects. (Source: MiceChat) Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries is Coming To Innoventions - Beginning April 13, Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries will give Disneyland park guests the chance to see Tony Stark’s Hall of Armor, featuring Iron Man suits Mark I-VII – the same suits featured in “Iron Man 3.” And you will even be able to virtually “suit up,” yourself! Through simulation technology, guests will be able to see what it’s like to operate the latest pieces of the Mark 42 Iron Man armor, even getting the chance to test out its infamous repulsor blasts. Limited Time Magic Menu No Food and Wine Festival at DCA this year, so instead Disney is offering a special selection of food at various locations around the resort. They've invited celebrity chef Andrew Zimmerman to consult on the menus. If you don't know who Andrew Zimmerman is, he's the host of a television show called Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel. He is also a James Beard Award winner. This award is similar to winning an Oscar for movies. Anyhow, he's been hired to create exotic dishes with a special emphasis on Global Cuisine. Since Andrew's show on Travel Channel takes him to remote destinations, they asked him to provide insight into authentic native cuisines from various countries all across the world. The dishes that will be offered are influenced by actual recipes he discovered during his travels. Cafe Orleans and Blue Bayou – Mama Odie's Voodoo Gumbo and JuJu Fries (U.S. Cajun) Chef's are creating a unique gumbo recipe that will include real alligator and possum meat. Both animals are indigenous to that area of the country, which makes this very unique. They're combining the alligator and possum meat with a wild boar italian sausage. It'll be created with standard gumbo ingredients such as tomatoes, bell peppers, celery, okra, garlic, and various cajun spices. The JuJu Fries is actually Cajun Snake Fry. The snake meat is marinated in a mix of whole milk and garlic juice to remove the gamey flavor. Then it's seasoned with paprika, onion powder, ground cayenne pepper, and black pepper. The meat is finally coated with a blend of flour, rosemary, white pepper, and oregano before it goes into the deep fryer. Rancho Del Zocalo – Three Caballeros Stew (Mexico + Latin America) The stew is named Three Caballeros because it contains three different types of meat including beef tongue (lengua), tripe (like Menudo, it's cow's stomach lining) and iguana. Iguanas are considered a delicacy in Mexico and throughout Central and South America. It compares to chicken, but more tender. The three meats are cooked using a variety of ingredients including carrots, onions, tomatoes and cabbage. It will come with tortillas and a papaya salsa on the side. Award Wieners – Iron Man Sausage (China and other parts of Asia) In keeping with the traditions of creating hot dogs with a movie tie-in, Disney is developing a special concoction for Iron Man 3, which is set to be release May 3rd. It's a Blood Sausage made with pig's blood mixed with sweet rice, vermicelli, pork shoulder, and pork liver. Blood contains a lot of Iron, so that's how it got it's name. To go along with the food, they're also offering a drink called Mandarin's Mad Cocktail (Mandarin is Tony Stark's nemesis in the movie). The elixir is made with 3 parts Zinfandel red wine with 1 part pig's blood and topped with a frothy goat's milk foam. Village Haus Restaurant – The Monstro Sandwich (Northern Europe) Pinocchio and Geppeto get their revenge on Monstro the Whale. Disney will be releasing a limited time sandwich featuring Baked Whale on Focaccia Bread. The meat has been imported from Norway and is prepared with red wine, garlic, onions, salt and peppercorns. It's topped with a white wine vinaigrette and radicchio lettuce served on an herb-infused Focaccia Bread roll. Bengal Barbecue – Indy Going Bananas (India) The Bengal Barbecue will be offering a new dessert item on their menu. In honor of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, chef's have recreated the most iconic dish in the movie - Chilled Monkey Brains. They received special permission from the Anaheim Health Department to serve this specialty item. Because a monkey's diet consists of mostly fruits, the flesh is slightly on the sweet side. However, to enhance the sweetness further, they've included some native Indian delicacies like mango, lychee, and ambarella. Fried bananas will be served on the side. Disney is going to be offering this Limited Time Menu beginning May 1st and it lasts throughout the entire month. Tip of the Week IPad Photography tips!
